Rory Cleveland Shrum
November 21, 1967 — January 20, 2021
Rory Cleveland Shrum, 53, of Fort Worth TX, passed away peacefully at home on January 20 due to complications from ALS.
Rory graduated United States Air Force Academy in 1990 and went on to become a decorated pilot who was dedicated to serving his country until he retired in 2012 and became a corporate pilot. In his spare time, he loved spending time with his family, traveling, and spending time outdoors specifically skiing, running and biking. Rory was a man of great faith and inspired others to be their very best.
He was a kind and loving husband to Tanya, as well as an amazing father to their children Prestin, Brittany & Sabrina. Rory chose to live his life always having great honor and sharing joy. Any who knew him were touched with his honest heart, unwavering strength and contagious smile.
Rory is survived by his wife and children and also leaves behind his siblings Dawn and Eric.
One of Rory’s proudest accomplishments was his family. He always wanted children and considered himself blessed to have three. His children, Prestin, Brittany and Sabrina called their dad a superhero, and even as adults, still see him that way. He was always there for them through their ups and downs, and taught them to enjoy every moment life has to offer. Rory and Tanya were each other’s one true love and wrote the blueprint for what a marriage should look like.
Rory’s life was a living example of a favorite Bible verse, Ephesians 4:32 — “And be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another, just as God also forgave you in Christ.”
But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength
They will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint.
Isaiah 40:31
Psalm 121:1-2
I lift up my eyes to the mountains—
where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord,
the Maker of heaven and earth.
