With heavy hearts we share; Rose Mary Salazar Coder, born January 16th, 1950, age 74, of Arlington, Texas, has passed peacefully on Sunday, January 5th, 2025, surrounded by her beloved family.
After a stroke, the Lord gave her two more years with us in which she fought hard to recover. Although she made great progress, she was then recently diagnosed with Urothelial cancer. We will never forget the courage and strength she exhibited.
Rosie lived for her family and came from a long line of strong women. She was a born nurturer from a very early age. While most little girls were playing with their dolls, Rosie was looking after her younger siblings, as both her parents worked. She was the 3rd of nine children. She attended Catholic school with her siblings and carried her faith with her throughout her life.
Her original desire along with her two older sisters, Nancy and Susy, was to be a nurse, like their mother, Mary. However, when the opportunity arose to hire in as the 13th woman at General Motors with good pay and benefits, she could not refuse. She retired after giving 33 years of hard work to the Arlington plant. And you can bet, she took on every job they threw at her!
Rosie loved with all her heart! If you were blessed to be a part of her life, you know her smile could light up a room, and her Mae West impression was spot on! You did not want to track mud on her, “clean enough to eat off of” floors; so be sure to, “take your shoes off; DTH…S!” And if you were hungry, you could bet there was a scrumptious Sunday roast ready for all who came by, as her favorite niece Lisa often took full advantage of! She loved her animals, last of which is her still living, precious Oreo! She was kind but stern, and she cared for everyone she knew. Whether you grew up with her, worked with her at General Motors, came over to watch scary movies, went riding roller coasters with her, or went off-roading in her black blazer, etc…, you would agree that she liked having a good time!
Rosie was an extremely generous woman. She would be the first to offer a helping hand. After her sister Patsy passed from her long battle with cancer, Rosie took in her mother, niece, and nephew. She did this all the while raising her own kids. Together, Rosie and her mother, Mary, went on to raise grandchildren and even great grands. The home they shared provided over three decades of incredibly memorable family gatherings in which all were welcome! Together they were caregivers to both Gary and Jimmy David, her brothers until they passed. Later, Rosie became the sole caregiver for her mother until she passed in 2018 at their home. Rosie was selfless in many regards, and she would always say, "Love One Another," and she meant it.
Her passing is felt by many. Not only by her surviving family but by all who knew her. She will be forever missed.
“To my beautiful children, grandchildren, great grands, godchildren, nieces & nephews and all… Some day when the pages of my life end. I know that you will be one of the most beautiful chapters. I love my life because it gave me you. And I love you because you are my life.
“My greatest treasure is my family. We are not perfect but I love them with all my heart.”
Love always, Mama/Granny Rose
