Rosemary T. Gafford, 89, received her angel wings on Friday, September 15, 2017.
Rosemary was born July 26, 1928 in Dallas, Texas to Admiral Dewey and Ethel Thornhill and was raised in the Metroplex most of her life. She has lived in Bedford since 1972. Rosemary graduated High School at the age of 16 and was enrolled into Business School the very next day by her mother. She received her Associates degree from TCJC; a Certified Professional Secretary degree; and a Certified Municipal Clerks degree in 1988. She has worked for law firms, as a substitute teacher and as the City Secretary for Euless for 4 years.
Rosemary married Leroy Gafford August 5, 1950. They have 4 children, two of which were born in Germany, where Leroy was stationed during the Korean War. They have shared 67 loving years together.
Rosemary loved music, bridge, bowling and writing. In October of 2000, she became a New Life Master in bridge. She was an active member in The Brain Injury Association of Texas and the Buckner’s Orphans Home Alumni.
Rosemary is survived by her husband of 67 years, Leroy Gafford; her 4 children, Larry, Becky, Sandra and Nancy; her sister, Mary Kay Roper; 3 grandchildren, Allison, Tommy and Kristin; great grandchild, Cecil and many more family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, brother and great granddaughter, Hannah.
Visitation will be held at Lucas Funeral Chapel from 10:00 am - 11:00 am.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 am. A private family graveside will follow services at the Dallas/Fort Worth National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to an organization that Rosemary was very passionate about, The Brain Injury Association of Texas.
