Rowena "Kay" Whistler

Rowena Kay (Landers) Whistler
Born February 21, 1937 (Sanger, Texas)
Died July 25, 2022 (Colleyville, Texas)

Parents: Oren Pressley Landers and Dosia Hopper Landers

Kay was the youngest of eight children. Her siblings, all of whom preceded her in death, include:
• Five Brothers: Herman, Lewis, Jerral, Johnnie, and Nolan
• Two Sisters: Marie and Elizabeth

Graduated: Denton High School in 1954
Married: At 17 years old to Bobby Gene Whistler on September 3, 1954 in Denton, Texas. Together, they raised three children in Tarrant County: (Spouse)
• DeLania Truly (Alan)
• Tracy Whistler (Betsy)
• Terry Whistler (Karen)

They had eight Grandchildren (in order of birth):
• Melissa Tyra (Jeremy)
• Kyle Truly (Lindsay)
• Mandy Tarver (Devin)
• Bobby Whistler (Allie)
• Michael Whistler (Sarah)
• Randall Whistler
• Nicholas Whistler (Jordin Tumlinson)
• Angela Whistler

Bob passed away on May 14, 2001, after 46 years of marriage.

Affiliation: Baptist (attended several in the HEB area, and volunteered for many groups in the last twenty years)

She was also blessed to have 11 great grandchildren, plus numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, and friends. She loved them all and gave generous hugs to everyone.

Memorial Service: Saturday, August 6, 2022
Visitation: 10 a.m.
Celebration of Life: 11 a.m.

Interment: She will join her husband, Bob Whistler, at DFW National Cemetery (future date TBD)
