Russell B. Dorsey died peacefully on Sunday July 19th, 2015 surrounded by family and friends. A Memorial Service will be held at 11 am Saturday, July 25, 2015 at Lucas Funeral Home, Hurst, TX.
Russ was born in Greenport, NY to Iva and Russ Dorsey. A musician his entire life, Russ took up drums at an early age, and especially loved big band music. In 1975, Russ married Nancy Hakans and moved to North Texas five years later. Russ’s passion for music was only rivaled by his love for baseball. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Nancy, brother Dan, sister Robin, son Dan and his wife Katherine, daughter Eileen, son Steven and his wife Crystal, and daughter Laura and her husband Chad. Russ had six granddaughters: Katie, Kristin, Nicole, Evelyn, Emily and Cadence.
Donations may be made in his name to St. Jude’s Hospital for funding of cancer treatment for children.
