It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Russell Scott Smith on October 28, 2023. He was born in Arlington, TX on March 29, 1959 to Ted Smith and Matalyn Smith Johnston.
Russell was a beloved son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and friend.
He was preceded in death by his father Ted; first wife Lori; and second wife Sandra.
Surviving Russell are his wife Cynthia; mother Matalyn and step father Dick; sister Nancy and husband Jim; brother Doug and wife Jana; daughter Maegan and husband Matt; sons Marshall and Micah; grandchildren Remy, Riley, Noah, Gabe, Charlee and Savanna; step daughter Jessica, and children Christian and Caitlin; step son Patrick and wife Yulli, children Sofia, Elias, and Luna; step son Lucas and wife Mariah, children Emma and Chance; step daughter Angie, and children; step daughter Marcy, and children; step daughter Ana, and children; step son Todd; step daughter Kari.
As a friend or family member of Russell's, lovingly known as Papa, you knew him as the life of the party with his ready laugh and honest boldness. Throughout his battle with cancer, he never lost his sense of humor. He could always be found joking with doctors, teasing nurses, and pulling light hearted pranks on his wife and children. He had a passion for attending his grandkids activities to loudly cheer them on, in a way only he could, which showed just how much he loved them.
A celebration of Russell's life will be held at The Hills Church - West Fort Worth Campus (2828 Longvue Ave, Fort Worth, TX, 76108) on November 11th 2023 at 10:00am. We invite you to come celebrate the life of an amazing man who touched so many lives in such a special way!
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to the American Cancer Society.
