Ruth Y. Hansen, of North Richland Hills, TX, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, in Dallas, Texas. She will always be remembered as a loving grandma, mom, wife and friend to all that knew and loved her. She was born on April 14, 1939, near Herreid, South Dakota, the third child of William H. and Lydia Sattler. She was raised on their rural family farm, along with her two older brothers. She married Terry L. Hansen in 1960 and began an adventurous life moving around the country as he worked in the airline industry. They lived in Nebraska, Montana, Arizona, Colorado, Texas and Washington making lifelong friends along the way. She worked for Motorola before becoming a full-time homemaker and mom to their 2 children until they graduated high school. In the early 1980s, she returned to work with Hewlett-Packard, from which she eventually retired. When her husband passed away in 2010, she moved to Texas to be closer to her daughter. Ruth was a spunky, independent and active woman with a fun sense of humor. She loved to laugh and have a good time. She was a fierce competitor playing a family dice game named “10,000”. She continued to drive her beloved red Jeep until several months prior to her passing. She had a wonderful marriage of 50 years, was an amazingly gifted seamstress, a skilled gardener known for beautifully landscaped yards, and a cookie-baking Mom.
