Ruth Adelle (Campbell) Dillard Reaves went to her eternal rest on April 14, 2020 at the age of 104 years and 6 months. She was born on October 6, 1915 in Canton, Van Zandt County, Texas to the late Alvin Bluford Campbell and Ella Ida (Bailey) Campbell.
Ruth devoted her life to family, friends, church and gardening.
She was most proud of the 5 generations in her family.
She was an active member of the FBC, Bedford, Texas for more than 50 years. Her love for gardening, flowers and vegetables, kept her physically and mentally active into her later years. While living in Bedford, Texas she was a number one fan of the Dallas Mavericks and Dallas Cowboys. After moving to Conroe, Texas and later to Tomball, Texas she became a huge fan of the Houston Astros and Houston Rockets.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert Dixon Dillard; husband, Ben Reaves; daughter, Betty Marie Dillard; son, Truman “Lynn” Dillard, and daughter, Ellen Oleta Simmons; siblings, Gladys Maw, Bluford Campbell, J.H. Campbell, Jim Campbell, and Perry Campbell.
Ruth is survived by sisters Dorothy Key and June Bell of Eugene, Oregon, and brother, Don Campbell of Horatio, Arkansas.
Her children, Billy Dean Dillard and wife, Sue of Victoria, Texas, Homer “Wayne” Dillard of Grand Prairie, Texas, Anita Sifford of Athens, Texas, Bobby Gayland Dillard and wife, Sharon of Tomball, Texas, and James Ray Dillard and wife, Shirley of Keller, Texas; stepson, Frank Reaves and wife, Rose of Fort Worth, Texas; grandchildren, Glenn, Vickie, Sandy, Debbie, Melissa, Sarah, Allen, Bobby, Dana, Janet, Tim, Matt, Andy, Aaron, Stephen, Cheri, Jon Paul, Laura, Jennifer, and Amy; 59 great grandchildren; 31 great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
A private family graveside service will be held at Moore Memorial Gardens in Arlington, Texas.
