Ruth Williams

Ruth Williams of Bedford passed peacefully on Friday January 10th. She was a much-loved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. 

Ruth Mary Williams was born on January 23, 1936, in Murphysboro, Illinois. After high school graduation she married her high school sweetheart Thomas Williams. Ruth and Tom shared 69 years of marriage until his passing in July 2024. Even after his death, she would call out for her “Tommy”. 

Ruth attended secretarial school and worked as a secretary in many positions with the federal government. Her last position was as Legal Secretary for the Corp of Engineers. After retiring, she and Tom moved to Texas to be closer to family. While she was successful at work, family was her crowning joy. 

She is survived by daughters; Kathy Clifton of Colleyville, and Mary Williams-Henderson of Bixby, OK,, Julie Williams of Bedford, Grandchildren; Carly Wise, Stephen Clifton, Drew Clifton, Emily Holland, and Lauren Weems, Great-grandson; Carter Wise. 

She was a proud Catholic and attended mass daily. As a devote member of Good Shepherd Catholic Community in Colleyville, she served in: Adoration, Linen & Alter Care, Small Church Community, Woman’s Group, Rosary & Readings, and Eucharistic Ministry, among other church functions. 

Ruth was such a great example of a Christian with a servant’s heart, she used her gifts to benefit other. Through her years of volunteer work at the Community Enrichment Center in North Richland Hills, she served hundreds in need through her work at their food pantry. Ruth took communion weekly to so many in care homes and offered comfort through prayer. She never met a stranger. She loved people and could start up a conversation with anyone. Ruth really loved her life before dementia set in. She will be greatly missed. 

The service to honor Ruth will be held on Saturday, February 15th with an 11:00 am funeral mass at Good Shepherd Catholic Community in Colleyville. We will have the Rosary at 10:30. Following the entombment of Ruth’s ashes, we will have a reception in the Great Hall at Good Shepard.
