Sandy Kathleen Miller

August 16, 1972 — January 26, 2025

Hurst

Sandra Miller of Hurst, TX passed away on January 26, 2025, at her home doing exactly what she loved, helping and encouraging others.

Sandy was born on August 16, 1972, in Bell Flower, CA to Judith and William Timm. She was preceded in death by her parents. Sandy attended McGregor High School and then continued her education at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, TX where she received a BS in Criminal Justice. In 2020, at the age of 48, she chose to further her education at University of Texas at Arlington, TX where she received a MSW (Master of Social Work) with a goal of becoming a licensed therapist (LCSW). She completed her licensing exam in August 2024 and was working on her clinical hours at her death.

God wove into Sandy’s heart an unending amount of forgiveness, care for others, and spirit of second chances. She was uniquely created for her roles in therapy, probation, friendships, encourager, fierce advocate, mother, and wife. She also had a great burden to care for the marginalized, forgotten, and dismissed. Mixed in with all these gifts was her quick and hilarious sense of humor.

During course work for her MSW, Sandy wrote the following discussion post regarding her own future death: “I never, ever, imagined going back to school at 48 to begin a new “helping” career. In retrospect, my use of flippant humor is probably a form of denial that I will likely die in my 70’s from heart disease or dementia, based on family history. (Or even earlier, thanks to my love of several secondary sources of aging). However, in my 40’s I felt the overwhelming need to share my knowledge and other resources with others, particularly those younger or less advantageous than I. After all, when we die, all that is left of us is our legacy: What impact did we have on others? There will be no hospital wings or charitable foundations in my name, no string of low-cost counseling centers, and certainly no cliff-diving trophies, particularly of the “nude” variety. But I will definitely have “loved my neighbor...and had fun doing it.” One “neighbor” at a time. ;-)”

Sandy loved doing all the things her husband didn’t (one of the reasons they were a perfect match): fishing, camping, grilling, cooking, singing, being frugal, playing musical instruments, research, writing, and investigations. She was a very talented and gifted person.

Sandy is survived by her favorite people, husband of 31 years, Kevin Miller; adored sons William Miller & Weston Miller, of Hurst, TX. She is also survived by her beloved long-time friends she regularly referred to as her family; loving mother-in-law Mary Ann Wells, of North Richland Hills, TX; and brother, Richard Timm of McGregor, TX; many dear cousins; and devoted guardian Roxy the St. Bernard of Hurst, TX.

“Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.” - Ephesians 4:32
