Sara "Jean" Wright

February 20, 1945 — February 18, 2020

Sara “Jean” Wright, resident of Kennedale, passed away peacefully on February 18, 2020 – 2 days shy of her 75th Birthday. Mrs. Wright was retired from the Arlington School District, which she worked for 20+ years. Visitation: Sunday, February 23rd from 5 to 7 pm. Lucas Funeral Home, 1321 Precinct Line Rd. Hurst, TX 76053. Memorial: To be announced at a later date by her family.
On the morning of February 18th, Jean’s nurse had just taken her vitals, and all seemed well – just a short time later Jean passed away quietly and comfortably in her sleep.
Jean’s most precious attribute was her laughter. As she entered into Heaven, we are comforted knowing she was heard laughing with abundant joy as she embraced her loving husband, David Andrew Wright of 36 years and her loving parents, Sarah Marie Woolley Shaffer and Tracy Granvell Shaffer, Sr.
Jean loved the Lord and studied often to have a fuller understanding of her faith. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints throughout her entire life. She was often visited by her church family and her Bishops and held them all in very high regard.
Jean was a cancer survivor, not once, not twice but three times. She had a very strong work ethic and believed in loyalty, hence her longevity while at Joe Bailey Junior High for most of her career at Arlington ISD. She genuinely loved the students and teachers and her coworkers where she made many friendships that endured for the remainder of her life.
Jean and her husband Dave entertained family and children at numerous Christmas parties around town as they loved transforming into Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus. They loved celebrating the holidays season and seeing the tremendous joy on children’s faces.
Jean’s wonderful laugh and infectious personality attracted people and animals alike. She and Dave were avid dog lovers and had several fur babies through the years in which they loved like their own children.
Jean loved spending time with her husband, sisters and brother and many other family members at their family farm in Whitney. Wonderful memories were made there that we will all cherish for many years to come.
The family would like to extend special recognition to her grandson, Miguel Cabrera, his wife Crisanna, and their loving family for assisting Sara Jean throughout her life. We would also like to give a special thank you to the staff and visitors that kept Jean’s spirit up at Town Hall Estates in Keene, TX where she resided over the past few years.
Jean will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Survivors: Her loving children; Christine, Mark & Julie, sisters; Sharon and Penny, brother; Tracy, Jr. grandchildren; Miguel, Alex, Jacquelyn, Kaitlin, Savannah, Megan, Crisanna, Preston, Benjamin, Luke, Jose, Augustine and Maria; great-grandchildren; Hadley Ann, Lola and Baby Donovan, Ila Rose and Maximiliano Erik. Also, many nieces and nephews and friends and family who loved her very much.

Jean’s hobbies included reading, church, gardening, planting flowers, crocheting, painting, playing games with family, going to the movies and just simply sitting with a cozy blanket.
