HURST -- Sarah (Sallye) Gean Drake Wied, passed away Wednesday, September 19, 2012. She was loving Grammy to her family.
Memorial Service: Saturday, October 6, 2012, at 1:00 PM at St. Philip Presbyterian Church, 745 W. Pipeline Road, Hurst.

Sarah was born in Fort Worth on October 19, 1927, to Aubrey B. and Pauline Whitehurst Drake. From age 3, she was raised by her stepmother, Ovee Bates Drake. She graduated from Polytechnic High School and attended TWC and NTAC (now UTA) where she met her forever husband of 64 years. She was very active in her church, serving as President of the Women of the Church, and taught preschool for 25 years. She served on the Presbytery on a staff of teachers traveling to weekend labs, training preschool curriculum to teachers in other cities. She retired as a Gift Showroom manager in Dallas Market Center in 1990. Previously she was a manager for Wicks & Sticks Candle Shop.
Her love and adoration of her family was very special and she was blessed with many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Emil G. Wied; and a son, Charles Kent Wied.
Survivors: Her sons, Mark Emil and wife Chrissy, Kirk Benton and Kristi, and Dan Chris and wife Susanne Wied; nine grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Charlie and wife, Bobbie; sister-in-laws, Dee Drake and Mary Reed and husband, Ray; and her nieces and nephews.
