Shannon Ashley Shenk Cook, 46, went to be with her Lord on March 31, 2025. She was born on December 12, 1978, to Donald Wendell Shenk and Cheryl Heider Shenk. Shannon spent her childhood in Hamshire, Fannett and Winnie, Texas, where she developed a lifelong love of spending time outdoors with friends & family, wakeboarding on the bayou, and countless beach vacations.
A proud graduate of Hamshire-Fannett High School, Class of 1997, Shannon went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Distribution from Texas A&M University in 2001. After a short tenure with IBM, she returned to Texas and went to work at Lockheed Martin for the better part of 23 years. She continued her education, receiving a Master’s degree in Engineering Management from Southern Methodist University in 2005. Shannon was deeply accomplished in both her academic and professional endeavors.
On March 11, 2006, Shannon married the love of her life, David Cook. They shared over 19 wonderful years together, raising three incredible children — Addison (15), Nolan (13), and Dylan (10). Shannon cherished being a mother more than anything. She found joy in every moment — from cheering at soccer and football games to planning family adventures and simply showering her children with endless love and encouragement.
Shannon’s heart for service was evident in many ways, including her generous support of Buyamba's Children’s Orphanage, helping provide children with a safe place to live and the opportunity to attend school.
She was preceded in death by her grandfather, A.W. Heider, and her step-grandfather, Lindy Burgess.
Shannon is survived by her loving husband, David Cook, and their three beloved children: Addison, Nolan, and Dylan. She is also survived by her parents, Donald and Cheryl Shenk; her brother, Donnie Shenk, and sister-in-law, Alexandra Shenk; her nieces, Vittoria and Sophia Shenk; her grandparents, Joann Burgess, Donald R. Shenk, Cindy Shenk, and Eileen Navikas; along with many cherished aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and friends who loved her dearly.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider donating to your favorite charity in honor of Shannon’s generous and compassionate spirit.
