Shannon Faith Armstrong Outlaw……born April 11, 1970, in Shelby, OH, passed into the arms of a loving God peacefully while on a trip to her beloved beach with her wife Ana Del Real and sister Jennifer Brucker on July 11, 2024. Shannon is the Mother of Sawyer Faith who met her at the gates of Heaven. Her faithful K9 companion Tipsy who never left her side and the daughter of Zandra Mink Fuller and Roscoe Armstrong. She also held her stepdad - Robert “Bobby” or, to Shannon, “Pops” - in high regard. They loved ganging up and giving Zee a hard time. She was also the sister to Bryan Armstrong and Hunter Hauke and sister-in-love to Lisa. She loved being THE aunt to Audrey Armstrong Dutton and Chyanne Armstrong and their families, niece of Mary and Rick Barberena, retired Navy Reservist as well as friend to countless people whom she touched. She was preceded in death by her much-loved Big Papa Oscar and Little Mama Faye Mink. Being a preacher and minister, He was a constant and consistent inspiration to her. It would be impossible to list all of the people Shannon treated as family. To know her was to love her and forget her was an impossibility. She had an infectious smile and sense of self-deprecating humor that was unmatched. Always an inspiration, she faced many health challenges over the last few years which made each day a struggle, but she never lost hope. She was first diagnosed with breast cancer and became THE Pink Outlaw where she was able to raise thousands of dollars for cancer research. Just as her fight against breast cancer was behind her, she was diagnosed with MS. Ever the fighter, she took it in stride but wasn't improving. The next diagnosis was the one that challenged her most fiercely - kidney failure. Her disease progressed quickly culminating into her needing a kidney transplant. Her brother Bryan was a match and gave her the gift of life to continue inspiring people.
There was a time before all of the illnesses and disease became her slave master. Shannon’s pursuits and interests as well as her career path were wide ranging - from becoming a top-level sales manager in the car business, to becoming an EMT and Fire Slayer where her ability to empathize and bring comfort were of great service, to pivot and become a teacher / trainer sharing her knowledge and gift of caring. She was especially proud to establish and launch the programs that allowed her to write and implement protocols for heart procedures used in educating healthcare professionals at John Peter Smith Healthcare Systems and all over the world - even flying to Italy where she was given an audience with the Pope’s doctor. She also was invited by the US Government to share her passion before a Committee on Breast Cancer care and best practices. Along with this long list of accomplishments, she was invited to appear on Good Day Texas where she along with Zee were able to discuss the different care protocols for breast cancer research and patient advocacy. Ever the competitor, she was also a semi-pro poker player and placed in the World Series of Poker. Her life was and will remain a blessing to the countless lives she touched. She mattered and made sure everyone whom she encountered knew they mattered as well.
