Sharon Janette Schmitz, 77 of Irving, Texas went to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 5, 2019.
Sharon was born August 27, 1942 in Dallas, Texas to Melvin Mabry and Stella A. Clary. She married Thomas Ray Schmitz on August 17, 1962. They had 4 sons, Tom, Marc, Eric, and Dan.
Sharon was a woman full of love and spirit, who greeted everyone she met with a smile and her keen wit. Most importantly, she was a strong mother and dedicated friend. During her children’s years of education at Holy Family of Nazareth and Irving High School, in Irving, Texas she formed lifetime friendships and served the schools in every way possible. While spending quality time with her family was always top priority, she also enjoyed reading a good book every chance she had, as well as arts and crafts, and watching classic films. Her mission in life was to spread her love and support to her family and friends, and she certainly succeeded as she was loved by all who knew her.
Sharon was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her 4 sons and families, and 7 grandchildren: Tom and Julie Schmitz and their daughters Diana and Hannah; Marc Schmitz and Carol Lessenger and their daughter Kendall and their son Carter; Eric and Kimberly Johansen-Schmitz; Dan and Jennifer Schmitz and their sons Carson and Colt and their daughter Kate; and the 4 sons' father, Thomas Sr.
The family would like to thank her dedicated and loving caregivers and nurses, as well as our friends and loved ones.
A “Celebration of Life” for Sharon will be announced sometime in January 2020.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, a charity she supported for decades, especially around this holiday season.
