Sharon Kay (Withers) Wingo

June 27, 1947 — March 18, 2020

Sharon Kay (Withers) Wingo went to her home in Heaven on March 18th, 2020, after a 4 month battle with cancer. She was a resident of Fort Worth, TX.

A private family memorial was held on September 15, 2020. The family invites you to watch a recording of the service by clicking here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zi9c27KKJhE

Sharon was born on June 27, 1947 in Springfield, MO to Carl and Aileen Withers. She graduated from Hillcrest High School in 1965, where she met her best friend and the love of her life, Gene Wingo. Gene and Sharon married on July 24, 1965, and her love of 54 years held her hand and her heart until the very end.

Sharon will be remembered as the most generous, thoughtful and playful person you could know. She never met a stranger and was sincerely interested in everyone and their “story.” She had a way of making you feel as though you were the only person in the room, and certainly the most important.

The mother of 2 and grandmother of 5, Sharon was always fully engaged and an active participant in the lives of her family. She never missed a recital, sporting event, school award presentation, birthday celebration or any other opportunity to cheer for “her people.” She even acknowledged and loved on her “grand-pets.”

Sharon loved to cook, set a beautiful table for her family to gather around, and to celebrate even the smallest of things to make those around her feel special. And she never missed a detail, always knowing each person’s likes, dislikes and everything in between. Her full investment in those around her provided us all with a blueprint for true and authentic relationships.

Sharon and Gene shared a love story for the ages and he was truly her best friend. He survives her, as well as their daughters Lori Vick (Lance) of Mineola, TX and Shari Brasher (Jeff) of Justin, TX; her beloved grand-babies, Lexi (25), Aaren (23), Ashley (20), Logan (18) and Lawson (16). She so loved being their “Te Te.”

She is also survived by sister Karla, sister Andrea, brother Keith (Barbara), brother-in-law Gary and her many nieces and nephews. And the list of beloved friends and extended family is endless.
