Shelia Rodert, beloved wife and mother passed away June 12, 2024, in Fort Worth, Texas. She was born on November 24, 1947 in Brownwood, Texas to Luther and Merle Vawter. After graduating from Early High School in 1966, she furthered her education at Nixon-Clay Business School. In 1969 she graduated there with a degree in Junior Accounting. Shelia was always very involved in her local church, Salt Creek Baptist Church where she played the piano for several years. She also volunteered with a group called the Invincibles who traveled around assisting with setting up Vacation Bible School programs in other communities.
On August 20, 1976, Shelia married the love of her life William (Bill) Rodert in Tom Green County, Texas. Bill and Shelia lived in San Angelo for a few years before returning to Shelia's hometown of Brownwood. Once Shelia became a mother to the couples only daughter in the summer of 1980, she left her job at the Brown County Courthouse to be a stay-at-home mom to Crissy. Throughout the years, she continued to volunteer her time and share her talent of playing the piano at various nursing homes around Brownwood as well as at her church Cornerstone Fellowship. In 1994, Bill, Shelia and Crissy set out on a new adventure by moving to the DFW metroplex when Bill took a new job.
When Shelia wasn't busy volunteering her time or being a wife and mother, you could find her in her yard caring for her many plants or extensive flower garden. To say she had a green thumb was modest. Her other love was her dogs. She always had more than one and treated them like her babies.
Shelia is proceeded in death by her parents, her sister Janice Elaine, and her beloved husband of 33 years. She is survived by her daughter Christine (Crissy) and husband Sammy Carr of Fort Worth, Texas; her sister Karen King of San Antonio, Texas as well as 2 nephews and several cousins.
There will be a luncheon at the family home from 2-4 and visitation at Lucas Funeral Home in Keller, Texas on Tuesday, June 18, 2024, from 6-8pm.
