Shelley "Dace" Candace Avans

Shelley “Dace” Candace Avans of El Paso, TX passed away on Saturday, June 10, 2023 in Ft. Worth, TX. She will always be remembered as a loving mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, friend and colleague to all that knew and loved her. She was born on Sunday, December 12, 1948 in El Paso, TX to Morris “Skid’ and Helen “Penny” Rodgers. Shelley retired from American Airlines in 2019 after 43 years of airline service with Scandinavian Airlines, PSA, US Airways and American Airlines. She also worked part time as a psychiatric nurse for UPMC in Pittsburgh prior to moving back to Texas in 2015.

Shelley enjoyed listening to music, riding horses, working with dogs, dancing, traveling, visiting friends, parties, and spending time with her grandson, Oliver.

Shelley is survived by her son Mason Bond; Grandson, Oliver Bond; Brother, Matt Rodgers; Nieces, Kara Baker Hunnicutt and Alyssa Ralston; Beloved, Bette Cantrell and Edward Walsh.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Helen and Morris Rodgers; Sister, Deborah Beeson; Niece, Laura Baker.

In lieu of flowers and to honor the memory of Shelley, we ask you to raise a Heineken or savor a brisket taco, two things she truly enjoyed, and raise a toast to the remarkable person she is.
