Sherill Ann Buitrago passed away on November 28, 2023 in Keller, Texas. Sherill was born in Ravenna, Ohio on October 7,1943 to Joseph and Margaret Smith. She attended Ravenna High School and graduated from Southeast High School. She moved to northern California where she received her LVN in nursing. There she met her husband Lou Buitrago. They have been married for 56 years. While working as a nurse for over 50 years, she raised their three girls and her two stepchildren.
Sherill had many hobbies. Growing up she played basketball and softball. She loved ceramics work and most recently was involved in activities like Zumba at the Senior Center in Keller. Her two biggest passions were dance and grandkids. She discovered her passion for dance at about age 55. She loved to dance and tap was her favorite. She was part of an adult competition dance group at her daughters’ dance studio. She loved being up on that stage. As much as she loved to dance, her greatest pride and joy was her family. Especially her 11 grandkids. She never missed a soccer or football game and was always there to support them in choir, theater, and especially dance recitals
Sherill was one-of-a-kind. She was a role model and a bright light - filled with positivity, love, and passion for family and the arts, love and compassion for anyone she met, and one tough cookie with a no quit attitude. She had 11 grandchildren but so so many more. She touched so many lives in unforgettable ways and will be truly missed by all.
Sherill is preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Margaret Smith and her beloved brother Wayne (Buddy) Smith.
She is survived by her husband Louis Buitrago of Keller, TX. Her children Sonya and Sean Hardy, Louis and Gail Buitrago, Shawnel and Mike Herbst, Serena and Jason Rhoton, and Barbara and Norm Dalsis, her 11 grandkids Makinna, Mitchell and his wife Samantha, Hollind, and Adriaa Hardy, Braedyn, Braxsyn, Briella and Brenlyn Herbst, Teaginn, Waylon, and Colton Rhoton, and great granddaughter Kali.
