Sherman Odell (Ken) Ayers passed away at home, surrounded by his children Friday, March 1, 2019.
He was born April 3, 1934 in Trammell Kentucky. Ken had a long career working for the US Government. He joined the US Army at 17 and served for 20 years. His active duty service included tours in Korea and Vietnam. After retiring from the Army in 1972, he continued to serve his country by working for Civil Service. He worked for more than 20 years managing the morale, welfare and recreation of soldiers and their families on many military bases around the United States. He retired from Civil Service in 1993 with the highest ranking available to a civilian. He was devoted to his wife and family. He was an avid reader, loved Alabama football, college basketball and enjoyed playing golf in his younger years.
There will be a viewing for family and friends at Lucas Funeral Home in Keller, TX on Tuesday, March 5th from 5-7PM. He will be buried with full military honors at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery Wednesday March 6th at 11:15AM.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Lena Sacco, his two sisters Peggy and Shirley and his wife of 54 years Bobby.
He is survived by three children Pamela, Kenneth, and Stacie and three grandchildren, Victoria, Alexandra and Noah.
