Sherry Lee Mullins

October 27, 1946 — November 28, 2021

Sherry Lee Mullins was born on October 27th, 1946 to Ned Roland Hosterman and Maybelle Irene Hosterman in Rebersburg, Pennsylvania. She was raised in this small, country-side town, with her older sister Ricky Bahner. An excellent student and player of the piano and the French horn, she attended Penns Valley Area High School in Spring Mills before earning her Bachelors of Science in Nursing from Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia.
Sherry began a career in trauma nursing after graduating college and met Robert “Bob” Duncan in 1967, marrying the young and handsome Navy man shortly thereafter. Bob served during the Vietnam war and was declared Missing in Action after not returning from a nighttime aerial mission over North Vietnam in 1968. She went on to support women who banded together to advocate for the rights of Prisoners of War and was one of the first advocates to meet privately with Pope John Paul VI in an effort to highlight their cause. The Navy declared Robert Killed in Action eight years after his passing.
Sherry later remarried to Alden “Jerry” Mullins, eventually relocating to Livermore, California. She and Jerry had a son, Matthew Mullins, in 1984, and raised him in the San Francisco Bay Area. She returned to work as a school secretary and nursing assistant at Our Savior Lutheran School in Livermore, where she worked until her retirement. Later in life, she enjoyed spending time with her son and his wife, Talita Mullins, eventually relocating to Haltom City, Texas. Sherry went to be with the Lord on November 28th, 2021. She is preceded in death by her parents and survived by her sister and son.
Gray hair is a crown of glory; it is gained in a righteous life. Proverbs 16:31.
