Sherry Elizabeth Ray

On Tuesday, January 5, 2021, Sherry Elizabeth “Eckelkamp” Ray passed away at the age of 75. She was born on December 28, 1945 to Theodore “Dutch” and Marye Eckelkamp. She was born and raised in Electra, TX and graduated from Electra High School. On January 26, 1964 she married Joe Ray. Together they have one daughter Jamie Ray Blankenship. She started her career as an Administrative Assistant for Panasonic. She worked for over 20 years for this great company and upon their closing she started working for CertainTeed Corporation where she dedicated 18 years of service.
Sherry was a God-fearing, loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was honest, supportive, humble, caring, and devoted to her family. She was a fantastic cook, enjoyed traveling, playing games with her family, and attending her grandson’s many school events. She could brighten a room with her smile. She was dedicated to her work and enjoyed spending time with friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Theodore “Dutch” and Marye Eckelkamp and her sister Chris Finch. She is survived by her husband Joe Ray, her daughter and son in law, Jamie and Kelly Blankenship, and her favorite grandchild, Ryan Blankenship. She is also survived by several wonderful brother and sister-in-laws and nieces and nephews.
Her services will be held on Monday, January 11, 2021 at 9:30 am at Church at the Cross, 3000 William D. Tate Ave in Grapevine, TX. The graveside service will follow at 2:30 pm at Mt. Carmel Cemetery, 6581 Mt. Carmel Rd., Electra, TX. In lieu of flowers, the family request a donation to be sent to either the American Liver Foundation or the Benevolence Fund at Church at the Cross.
