Shirley Ann Boyd, a resident of Ft. Worth, died Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at Keller Oaks Nursing Home.
Shirley was born in 1935 in Tea, South Dakota. She grew up on a farm with her mom, dad, and brother. Shirley attended school in a one room school house in South Dakota. She graduated from high school in 1954. Shirley was married to Donald Boyd for 61 years.
Shirley was a self made business woman. She once took out a loan with the only collateral she had – herself! Shirley owned and operated Shirley Don's World of Printing in Joplin, Missouri for all most two decades. She never dealt with a problem only opportunities she would say. Shirley was a firm believer in positive affirmation. She would persevere over defeat, hence the reason that Shirley is considered a survivalist of cancer three times running.
Her hobbies included spending quality time with her family, she loved finding unique treasures at flea markets or at estate sales. She also loved playing Chinese checkers and card games.
Shirley was a devout Christian and member of First Baptist Euless. She once was asked, "What do you contribute to your success?" She replied, "I give all the glory to the five G's: God, Grace, Gratitude, Gumption, and Grits!"
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, John and Anna VanLoh; and her beloved husband, Donald Craig Boyd.
She is survived by her son, Craig Boyd and his wife, Gina, daughters, Sheri Boyd, and Debbie Carter and her husband, James; grandchildren, CJ Boyd and his wife, Sara, Anna Boyd, Stone Carter, Shiannee Carter, Grace Carter; great-grandson, Benjamin Carter; and brother, Cal Van Loh.
