Shirley Mae Thompson Cain, 91, of Frisco Texas, passed away Saturday, January 9, 2021.
Graveside: 1:00 pm Monday January 18, 2021 at Laurel Land Memorial Park, of Fort Worth, Texas. In Lieu of Flowers, donations may be made to the American Alzheimer’s Association.
Shirley was born on March 25, 1929 in Fort Worth, Texas. She graduated from Polytechnic High School and received a Bachelors degree in English from North Texas Agricultural College (NTAC), now called University of Texas at Arlington. Shirley was married to Edwin Carroll Cain on November 26, 1948, in Fort Worth. She worked as a Social Worker for HEB Hospital in Bedford, Texas, and was a member of Lebanon Baptist Church of Frisco; Daughters of American Revolution (DAR); Eastern Star; and Oakcrest Women’s Club of Fort Worth. She also had a passion for gardening, painting, writing poetry and short stories, genealogy, and crafting.
Shirley is preceded in death by her mother, Lillian Mae Nance Black; husband, Edwin Carroll Cain; and niece, Veronica Cain Chapman. She is survived by her daughter, Sheila Cain Rowan and husband Tom; nieces, Barbara Cain Barton and Judie Cain Brooks; and numerous great nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
