Shirley A. Callaway passed away peacefully on August 28, 2015 at her home in Trophy Club, Texas with her family by her side.
Services: The family will greet guests for visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Lucas Funeral Home in Grapevine, Texas.
A second visitation will take place from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors in McDonough, Georgia. The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors in McDonough, Georgia. Burial will follow at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Hampton, Georgia.

Shirley was born on February 13, 1938 in Atlanta, Georgia to James and Betty Haley. She had a love of the arts including painting and sewing. Shirley and her sister, Betty, owned a ceramics and catering business during the late 70’s and early 80’s. She met the love of her life, Wesley Callaway, while giving roller skating instructions at a local skating rink. Shirley had also been the owner and operator of two such skating rinks in her lifetime.
Shirley and Wesley moved to Trophy Club, Texas from Atlanta in 1983 where she became very active in the schools and community. She was known as “Mom” to all the cheerleading girls. Shirley worked with the Roanoke Pantry during Thanksgiving and Christmas to supply food and gifts to local families in need. Living in Trophy Club, she became an avid golfer and joined and eventually became an active board member of the Ladies Golf Association. Shirley was a devoted wife, and a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
Shirley was preceded in passing by her parents; and her sister, Roxy.
Survivors: She is survived by her husband and best-friend of 49 years, Wesley Callaway; children, Ronny McGee and wife, Renee, Michelle McGee and Stephanie Callaway; grandchildren, Brandi Bartlett and Blair Beesley; great-grandchildren, Gage, Levi, Abrienda and Tavin; sister, Betty Tanquary; brother, James Haley; and many loving family members and friends.
