Shirley Renee Cataldo
Your Hug Meant the World
Nobody else held me so tight
Or made me feel so right
No one's eyes shined so bright with love
As my mom, who is now high above.
- Tamsen Butler
The world lost a beloved wife, mother, artist and friend, Shirley “Lee” Cataldo, on November 24, 2022. Lee passed away unexpectedly in her home surrounded by her husband and son. Lee was born on April 23, 1957 in Fairbanks, Alaska. With her father in the U.S. Army, Lee experienced many places but particularly loved her time at her grandparent’s farm in North Carolina with all her aunts, uncles and cousins close by. Lee settled in Texas as a young adult where she met her loving husband, Charles “Chuck” Cataldo. Lee and Chuck were married in 1982 and built a beautiful life together raising their son, Christopher. Lee and Christopher had an unconditional, unwavering, and enduring bond. She loved him fiercely.
Lee was an amazing artist and teacher. She was always so generous with her time and talents. She loved to teach and inspire others to find joy through art. Her artistic talents encompassed every area of her life from her beautiful home to her artistically mastered gardens. Lee found beauty in all things and art was her way of expressing and sharing it with the world.
Lee will forever be remembered by her kind and giving soul. She was humble and selfless. Lee showered all people and things with her kindness. She will truly be missed and will never, ever be forgotten.
Lee is survived by her husband, Chuck Cataldo and her son, Christopher Cataldo. She was preceded in death by her parents (Lester and Mollie Whiteis), siblings (Arlene, Wayne and Greg) and her faithful dachshund, Glady.
If you would like to pay your respects, you are welcome to attend the memorial service in honor of Lee at Lucas Funeral Home in Grapevine, Texas on December 3rd, 2022 at 3 p.m.
