Shirley Jean Dotson

Shirley Jean Dotson, 72, passed away peacefully on December 26, 2018. She was born on October 20, 1946 in Fort Worth, Texas to Will Ed and Dorothy (Flatt) Burgess.
She grew up in Venus, Texas and graduated at the top of her class from Venus High School.
In 1964, Shirley married the love of her life, Richard Dotson, and they celebrated 54 years of marriage together.
Shirley excelled in both the real estate and mortgage banking fields. She never met a stranger and many of her co-workers became her life-long friends. Shirley’s greatest joy in life was being a mom and Mimi to her children and grandchildren. She will be remembered for her wit, storytelling, generosity and unconditional love.
Shirley was preceded in death by her father and mother, her husband and son Stephen Paul Dotson.
She is survived by her daughter Terri Dotson-Vellenger of Burleson, Texas; son Rich (Emily) Dotson of Fort Worth, Texas; sister Brenda Burgess Fox of Royse City, Texas; sister Vicki Burgess Batson of Fort Worth, Texas; grandchildren Cole (Patty) Dotson, Lauren (Rey) Guadian, Nick Dotson, Landon Vellenger and Connor Dotson; great-grandson, Stephen Rey Guadian and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A private memorial service was held at Christ Chapel in Fort Worth, Texas, on Friday, January 11, 2019
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial donations be made to the Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children, 2222 Welborn Street, Dallas, TX 75219.
The family wishes to extend gratitude to the staff at Community Hospice of Fort Worth and cherished extended family and friends for their prayers and support.
