Shirley was born September 7, 1941 in Galveston, Texas to William and Agnes Kopecky. She grew up in Galveston, along with her four sisters: Virginia, Patsy, Sylvia, and Alice. She enjoyed spending a lot of time at the beach. She graduated from Dominican High School in Galveston in 1960. After high school, she married, and moved to Irving, Texas, where she later had four children. Shirley went on to work in nursing facilities which gave her much joy serving others. In 1980, Shirley moved to Houston to be closer to her parents and sisters. In 1993, she moved back to the DFW area to be with her children, and this is where she spent the remaining days of her life.
Shirley was a devout Christian and a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, who always reached out to lend a helping hand. She was active in her church, teaching Sunday school classes and served whenever she could at church functions. Shirley shared with the community the Good News of the Gospel, no matter where she was or what was going on in her life. She enjoyed writing, baking (especially her family recipe of kolaches), making handmade greeting cards, as well as spending time with friends and family. Shirley made it a point to visit the widows in her community to fellowship and pray with them.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Agnes Kopecky and her older sisters, Patricia Stiglich and Virginia Holmes.
