Mrs. Soeut Chin, a cherished member of the Fort Worth community, passed away on September 16, 2024, at the age of 84. She was a devoted home maker who found solace and joy spending time with her grandchildren, sewing, cooking for her loved ones and tending to her garden, nurturing beauty and life with every bloom she lovingly cultivated.
Soeut was born and raised in Khaet Battambong, Poom Phnom Sampoy in 1940. She was a farmer until she married at the age of 20. She then moved to the city. There she led a lavish lifestyle with a maid, butler, and chauffeur while raising her children. Life was great up until the Khmer Rouge invasion in 1975, her life changed drastically after the invasion. War went on for a few years. Due to the Khmer Rouge invasion in 1975, Soeut lost contact with her spouse and 5 other children. In 1979, Soeut had to flee to Thailand to survive the Khmer Rouge Regime. She lived in a Thai Camp for a few years. While living in Thai Camp, she was then sponsored by her mother to come to the United States of America to start a new life. The sponsorship process took a while, but by 1984 she could leave for the Philippines. She lived in the Philippines for about 6 months with her youngest daughter. She attended school while waiting to come to the United States of America. Finally, in September 1984, she and her daughter arrived in the States. Life again was difficult because of a new country, a new language she had learned, and a new way of life. However, life was better than it was back in Cambodia, but she struggled due to the language barrier. She attended adult school as an ESL (English secondary language) student for a few years up until her daughter graduated from high school. Soeut and her daughter have always lived together since they first arrived in the States.
She is survived by her son Paul Chin and wife Cindy Meas-Chin, daughter Nhanh Phanthavong and husband Chan Phanthavong, brothers Khem Pek, sisters Khom Pek, Sokha Khiev and Sokhan Chin, grandchildren Kyra Phanthavong, Dara Phanthavong, Selena Choe, Karen Meas, Peter Meas, Melinda Bailey and Patrick Chin and great-grandchildren Jayvian Tristan Kayleb Choe, Jayleanna Alyssabeth Kaylin Choe, Jaylessia Aaliyabelle Kaylah Choe,Trevor Tiger Ou, Karina Tylie Meas, Kaytiana Malina Ou Meas, Jazlyn Liana Bailey, Kaydah Pj Meas and Maddilyn Cindy Meas.
