Spencer Bruce "Butch" Doyle of Burleson passed away May 20, 2024 at Community Health of Texas at Huguley at the age of 78 years.
Spencer was born on August 16, 1945 in Pontiac, Michigan. His family moved to California when he was two years old and he grew up in an oil town called Avenal. He went into the Army at age 20, became an officer and a helicopter pilot and served in Vietnam from September 1968 to September 1969, earning several medals including the Distinguished Flying Cross, Bronze Medal, 13 air medals and others. When he returned from Vietnam he was stationed at Fort Wolters, Texas, he met his future wife Cathy. They got married on June 3, 1971. They moved to Austin, Texas to attend college. Spencer attended the McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas at Austin earning his BBA with honors. Spencer continued to serve in the military for a total of 29 years and also worked in the field of Healthcare as CEO for several clinics and physical therapy centers. He always enjoyed traveling with his wife, Cathy and their three children, then their six grandchildren.
Spencer never met a stranger. He had a great sense of humor, was a prolific prankster, was quick to laugh, loved deeply, and was always willing to help others. He was always very committed to his family.
Spencer was a member of Pathway Church in Burleson. He was a Freemason and taught the Masonic work as well as performed Masonic funerals. For many years he was an avid golfer. He loved to read and usually had two books going at the same time. At the top of his hobbies was traveling with his wife and grandchildren.
Spencer is survived by his wife, Cathy Diane Story Doyle and their three children Elizabeth Jeanne Doyle Baxter (Christopher Joseph Nivin), Spencer Mark Doyle (Susan Clair Rodgers-Doyle), and Eric Michael Doyle and grandchildren Abigail Ann Doyle, Spencer Conan Doyle, Hagen Russell Baxter, Cullen Doyle Baxter, Celia Caroline Doyle, Clara Catherine Doyle, and Grant Pierce Nivin. His sister Sally Timmons and nieces Tiffany Richardson, Jill Garner, Jennifer Doyle, Jaime Schmitt, and Cortney Gugel. Spencer was preceded in death by his brother Scott Doyle and their parents.
