Stan Parker Yeats, beloved husband and father, passed away on April 12, 2021 at the age of 74.
Stan was born on July 21, 1946 to Marvin Yeats and Naomi Duncan in San Antonio. He grew up in San Antonio and Houston before moving to Hurst and graduating from L.D. Bell High School. He would later help organize many of the Class of ‘64 reunions. In 1966, he married his high school sweetheart, Dora Joan Gilmore, his wife of 55 years. They have two children together, Melanie and Dave.
Stan owned Yeats Contracting Company for over 30 years and later retired from MICA Corporation. Everyone who worked with Stan discovered that he had an ability to connect with them in a personal way. Many of his life-long friendships came from people he encountered through work.
Beyond work, Stan was a warm and generous man who constantly put others before himself. He was easy to talk to and easy to get to know. He had a sly (and sometimes irreverent) sense of humor and loved to make people laugh. He hated being the center of attention, but loved being around people. If you ever needed anything, Stan was the first person to volunteer his time or extra help in whatever way he could. He was always trying to buy your lunch.
Stan was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Naomi Yeats of Hurst. Stan is survived by his wife Joanie, his daughter Melanie Mondragon and her fiancé Pat Clounch and her children Kaylee Young, Jacob Young and Ty Mondragon, his son Dave Yeats and his wife Carrie and their children Addie, Anwyn and Autumn Yeats, his brother Richard Yeats and his wife Judy, and his sister Luanna Fisher and her husband Gary. Stan was close to his brothers- and sisters-in-law, Tommie and Leonard Netzer, Judy and Jim Brown, Larry and Carol Hamrick, and L.C. and Cindy Tubb. Stan has many, many other beloved relatives.
But the list of family doesn’t tell the whole story. Not listed are the “family” who consider Stan to be a brother, a father, a grandfather, or their best and closest friend.
Joanie, Melanie, and Dave would like to invite everyone who was touched by Stan to attend a celebration of life starting at 2:00 PM on Friday, April 30 at White’s Chapel United Methodist Church in Southlake. A reception will follow. The church asks that visitors wear a mask in consideration of others. For those who wish to attend virtually, the service will be streamed live at
