With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Stephen Don Smith, a beloved resident of Burleson. Born on February 29, 1952, at Harris Hospital in Fort Worth, Steve passed away on March 13, 2024, at the age of 72.
A native of Arlington, Texas, Steve's journey through life was marked by dedication and passion for his family, career, and community. After graduating from Barber School in 1981, he went on to establish American Barbershop in Burleson in 1996. For over 28 years, he served his clients with excellence, creating lasting relationships and a cherished legacy in the industry.
Steve was known for his upbeat personality, positive outlook, and unwavering commitment to his faith, family, and country. As a dedicated father to his three children, a grandfather to eight grandchildren, and a member of Pathway Church, his love and impact were immeasurable.
Outside of work and family, Steve found joy in his hobbies. An avid archer, racquetball player and baseball fan, he shared his love for sports with others, coaching and instructing along the way. Baseball was a love of his; he listened to or watched every Texas Rangers game that he was able to.
Steve is survived by his loving wife, Laura Smith, and brother, Roger Smith, as well as his children, Stephanie Morgan, Aaron Smith, Brandon Smith, and step-daughter Breanne Bridges. He will be dearly missed by his grandchildren: Teyton, Faith, Tyce, Eli, Justin, Hunter, Reagan, and Lauren.
Preceded in death by his parents Emmett and Wilma June Smith, Steve's memory will be cherished by all who knew him. A celebration of his remarkable life will be held on Thursday, March 21, 2024, at Lucas Funeral Home (518 SW Johnson Ave, Burleson, TX 76028).
