Sue Anne was born to Doyce and Lenna Davis in Mt. Pleasant, TX on October 1st, 1934. She
was the third surviving child of five and second of four daughters. Sue Anne attended school in
Mt. Pleasant until her Junior year. The family made a brief move to Dallas where she graduated
from Sunset High School in 1953. At Sunset, Sue was a member of the National Honor Society
and Choir.
After high school, Sue began her work life as a typist...a very fast and accurate typist. This was
followed by similar and more complex positions. Sue retired as an executive administrative
assistant with Nationwide Papers in 1997.
Sue joined the American Business Women’s Association in 1976, serving in executive board
positions and chairing numerous committees in various chapters throughout her years of
service. So valuable were her contributions, she was named the Burleson Chapter’s Woman of
the Year and Top Ten of ABWA in 1990 and again in 2007 along with her eldest daughter, Linda
Norwood in her own ABWA chapter. Sue was a tireless coordinator of fundraising events, like
the ABWA Funnel Cake booth at Ft. Worth fairs and festivals.
A lifelong church goer, Sue attended First Baptist Church in Ft. Worth where she met her future
husband, Jack R. McKnight. They were married in June of 1959. Sue was a long time member
and avid supporter of Hallmark Church. She loved her church family and did visitation to
shut-ins.
Sue loved to travel. Pictures of trips and especially cruises, church travel groups, driving trips
with friends, quick or extended trips with her sisters filled dozens of photo albums.
Sue passed, peacefully, in the early hours of July 19, 2024. Sue was preceded in death by her
husband, Jack, her parents, brother, Paul Davis, and sisters, Marjorie Junge, Carolyn Davis,
Barbara Norris; and great granddaughter, Katrina Rice. She is survived by her beloved children,
Linda Norwood (Robert); Kathy Fortune; Jackie Carey (John); and Morgan McKnight (Tonia);
nine grandchildren; five great grandchildren, and seven nieces and nephews.
At Sue’s request, in lieu of flowers, donations to benefit the Hallmark Church Building Fund.
