Susan Edwards Alland passed away peacefully on February 16, 2018 in Bedford, Texas. She was born on January 9, 1939 in Chicago, Illinois, the youngest child of the late Dr. Eugene Edwards and Beulah (Casler) Edwards.
She is survived by her son, Micah (Tanya) Buehler, her daughter Zoe (Derrell) Arb, grandchildren Brittni Hill, Dalton Ring, Mitchell Buehler and Samantha Buehler, great-grandson Braedon Hill, brothers Art (Sharon) Edwards and Bob Edwards, nephews Scott Edwards, Walter Edwards and Robert Edwards, nieces Dr. Jenny Black and Barbara Sommers and seven grand-nieces and –nephews. She is also survived by her beloved German Shepherd, Happy.
Susan was a gifted artist and writer, fluent in Spanish and worked as a newspaper reporter in Spartanburg SC, Asheboro NC, Austin and Weatherford TX. Throughout her life she was known for her intelligence, inquisitiveness and optimistic outlook. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Susan’s family members extend their sincerest gratitude to the staff of LaDora Nursing Home in Bedford who helped care for Susan over the last five years.
A memorial service is planned in the spring; details are currently incomplete.
