Susan Mcdevitt

It is with great sadness that the family of Susan Billman McDevitt of Bedford, Texas, announce her peaceful passing on June 26, 2023, at the age of 83.

Susan was born in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. She met the love of her life and best friend, Donald, in high school, and they were married on October 18, 1958. Susan would go on to join Donald and raise her 3 children throughout the world while serving as a military wife. Susan was a woman of many passions, but the greatest were her love of travel and her family.

Susan was an exceptional wife and mother to her children; however, many others considered her their own surrogate mother as well. She cared deeply for her family, friends, and neighbors. She did this not out of obligation, but because of the loving woman she was. She always ensured that every child who crossed her threshold was safe, healthy, and happy, and she will be greatly missed by many.

Susan will be lovingly remembered by her 3 sons – Donald (Krista) McDevitt of Georgetown, Texas, Kevin (Mary) McDevitt of Elizabeth, Colorado, and Michael (Tina) McDevitt of Decatur, Texas. She is also survived by her sister Maryann Hammond of Bend, Oregon, 8 grandchildren,
9 great-grandchildren and numerous other family members and friends. Susan was predeceased by her loving husband Donald and her parents, Howard and Lucille.

A visitation will be held at 2 pm on Saturday, July 1, 2023, at Lucas Funeral Home, 1321 Precinct Line Road, Hurst, Texas.

A funeral mass will be held at 10 am on Monday, July 3, 2023, at St. Michael Catholic Church, 3713 Harwood Road, Bedford, Texas, where Susan regularly attended.
