Sylvia Atto

Service: Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:45 a.m. Saturday by Fr. Dennis Atto at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Grapevine. Private interment: Monday in Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery. Visitation: 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with the holy rosary prayed prior to departure to the church.

Memorials: May be made to National Right to Life. Sylvia was born in North Tonawanda, N.Y., on Dec. 23, 1935, to the late Paul T. and Eleanor Kiedrowski. One older brother, Paul Kiedrowski, also preceded her in death. Sylvia returned to the classroom in her late 30s after her children were in school, earning a BSN in nursing. She worked as a registered nurse for more than 20 years in Fayetteville, Ark., and the Tyler area. Devoted to her Catholic faith, she taught CCD to young teens in Arkansas, east Texas and until last year, at St. John the Apostle in North Richland Hills. All of us loved her deeply and she is greatly missed.

Survivors: She is survived by her husband of 56 years, U.S retired Maj. Billy J. Atto of Grapevine; daughters, Deborah Martin and husband, Wayne, Mary Ann and husband, Dr. Farrell Hass; sons, Fr. Dennis Atto, Michael, Kevin and wife, Ruth, William and wife, Maureen; granchildren, Patrick and Jacob Martin, James Hass, Katherine, William, Joseph, Elizabeth and Regina Atto; brothers, Robert and David Kiedrowski; many cousins, nieces and nephews.
