Terri Tabor Wilson

March 19, 1961 — February 16, 2021

Terri Tabor Wilson, 59, of Denton, Texas passed peacefully at home February 16, 2021, following a 10-year heroic battle against cancer. Born March 19, 1961 in Fort Worth, Texas, the middle child of Paul F. Tabor, Jr. and Virginia Lea Dahlgreen Tabor. Terri grew up in Hurst, Texas, where she graduated from L.D. Bell High School in 1979 and was a proud member of the Raiderettes Drill Team. She went on to graduate from Texas Christian University, majoring in Advertising, and was a member of the Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority. Her fondest memories of her youth were spent with her family on Eagle Mountain Lake, where she developed a passion for swimming, sailing, water skiing and boating across the wide-open spaces.
Following her graduation from college, Terri managed Valentine Travel Agency, a new business opened by her father. She quickly excelled and was recognized as a top travel agent in the industry. She traveled extensively to top resorts and destinations in order to provide the finest travel and accommodations possible for her entrusted clientele. It was during these travels that Terri fell in love with St Thomas US Virgin Islands, where she was given an opportunity to co-captain a charter sail boat.
This was an adventure of a lifetime and she was able to use her charming hospitality and culinary skills to treat her guests to a wonderful vacation experience, while touring all of the beautiful islands around the US Virgin Islands. It was during this time in St Thomas that Terri experienced her greatest love and joy with the birth of her son Chase, who is now 29 years old and engaged to be married.
After almost losing her life in a major hurricane, Terri felt that it was time to move on and change career paths. She went to work for Diamonds International traveling globally. She was quickly recognized as a dedicated and highly motivated sales person, breaking record sales with her winning personality and quick study of knowledge in the jewelry industry. Diamonds International took her straight into top management, where she was asked to move her family and open new retail stores in Cozumel, Mexico, Ketchikan, Alaska and Las Vegas, Nevada. These opportunities provided Terri with amazing memories. After semi-retiring from the jewelry business, she slowed down, dedicating her time to raise her family, living first in Corpus Christi, and then Horseshoe Bay, Texas, where she lived on Lake LBJ.
Shortly afterward, Terri returned to the Dallas/Fort Worth area, where she met Mike Wilson. The man of unconditional love walked into her life and they married on August 4, 2013, in front of a small gathering of family and friends at a surprise ceremony by the lake at her sisters in Aledo, Texas. Terri and Mike moved to Denton, Texas, where Mike had his early roots. They were inseparable and enjoyed traveling. They purchased a travel trailer, which allowed them to travel with their canine companions and experience destinations from Texas to Florida, especially to lakes and coastal regions. Terri’s happy place was always at the lake, as she described it as a place where she could “breathe”. They bought a waterfront lot on Lake Tawakoni where they enjoyed entertaining family and friends. Terri absolutely adored spending time there, especially watching the magnificent sunsets and campfires. Additionally, she loved yellow roses and gerber daisies; Mike was her partner and caregiver.
Terri was gifted in so many ways. She loved painting and monogramming, creating wonderful gifts that she gave from her heart to many loved ones. Cooking was also a passion that brought her a lot of joy. She wrote a cookbook compiled from a collection of recipes from all the places that she had lived and visited titled “Terri’s Texitaly Cookbook”.
Terri was a beacon of sunshine and hope for all she met. She loved without condition and accepted everyone as they were. She always said that there are those that run to help those that are ill, and there are those that run away. She is where the salt and butter never go dry and there is plenty of real Coke to drink.
When you see a sunset, think of Terri. She always made time to stop and admire God’s beautiful paint brush.
Terri is preceded in death by her parents, Paul F. Tabor Jr. and Virginia Lea Dahlgren Tabor; paternal grandparents, Sara Elizabeth and Paul F. Tabor, Sr.; maternal grandparents, Sophia Katherine Norman and Carl A. Dahlgren, Sr.
