Terry Lee Allen

January 23, 1964 — November 9, 2024

Granbury, Texas

Terry Allen (aka - Big Al) was born on January 23rd, 1964 to William and Sylvia Allen. He was raised, along with his two younger brothers, Gary and Jerry, in Grand Prairie, TX. Throughout his life, Terry was passionate about a wide array of things. History, aviation, and (as anyone who even remotely knew him could tell you) Football. Playing from pee wees to varsity at Grand Prairie High School, to college ball at Kansas Wesleyan, Football brought pure joy throughout his life. His encyclopedic knowledge of the game he so loved was nothing short of astonishing. On June 7th, 1991, Terry and Jennifer (Horrigan), whom he met while both were working at Six Flags over Texas, were united in the covenant of marriage. Jennifer brought along with her two young children, Whitney (aged 4) and Michael (aged 2). From day one, Terry considered these two children as bone of his bone and flesh of his flesh. Three years later, Terry and Jennifer gave birth to their third child, and his namesake, Terry Lee Allen, Jr. (more widely known as TJ).

One of Terry’s well-known attributes was his work ethic, working in those earlier years often two or three jobs to ensure that his family’s needs were met and that they were never in want for anything. He regularly went without, so that his family did not. In 2002, he went to work for the BNSF railroad, securing a fulfilling career that sparked enthusiasm and creativity. He enjoyed what he did and treasured the relationships he made there.

In 2009, Terry and Jennifer, in joyful obedience to the Lord, welcomed three more children into their family. Ashley, Bailey, and Joshua brought a fulness and completion to the family and great purpose, beauty, and joy to Terry’s life. Terry took seriously his relationship with the Lord and, in so doing, his faith was the critical rudder by which he navigated his life's challenges and decisions. To the end, his desire was to honor the Lord, placing his hope in Him, and to care for and support his family. Terry Allen fell asleep in the Lord on the 9th day of November, 2024. He will be immeasurably missed, but missed with the unwaning hope of the Resurrection.

He is survived by: his wife, Jennifer; his brothers, Gary and Jerry; his children, Whitney, Michael, T.J., Ashley, Bailey, and Joshua; and 10 grandchildren. He is now united with Christ, his parents, and four of his heavenly grandchildren.

Burial service will be held at Bourland Cemetery in Keller, Texas at 11:00am.
