Terry Wayne Keils

December 7, 1956 — August 2, 2020

Terry Wayne Keils 63 years and 249 days of age - Born in Fort Worth, Texas December 7th, 1956 went to be with his Heavenly Father on Sunday August the 2nd, 2020 at 11:43 am in Fort Worth, TX. Terry spent 23,429 days in this world.
Terry was a graduate of Western Hills High School and held Associate Degrees in Auto Mechanics and Law Enforcement from Tarrant County Community College. Over the years he held a variety of jobs from his first as a night shift cook at The Kettle Restaurant at 16, as a service writer for Sears, a mechanic at Vandergriff Buick, and a Millwright for Brown and Root on the Comanche Peak Power Plant where he wore his nickname “Heavy” proudly on his belt and hardhat. But his dream job found him as a Deputy for Parker County SO then at Anderson County SO. After he left Anderson County he moved in with Mom and Dad taking care of them in their last years.
In his down time Terry was a PADI Certified Divemaster and loved to Scuba and teach others to love the world below. He taught some of the people he worked with and loved to sit by a fire with an adult beverage after a hard day of diving, swapping stories with his buddies. He also loved to dance and could be found many Friday and Saturday nights at the old Diamond Jim’s, The White Elephant, or at Billy Bob’s. An avid CB’er in the 1970’s he volunteered with Fort Worth REACT and the Fort Worth Police Department’s Channel 9 monitoring Program, communicating to the dispatchers calls from the roadways, working crowd control and assisting with missing person searches, in his later years he got into Ham Radio working as a storm spotter. He enjoyed hunting down at the old family homestead.
Terry never married but spoiling his nieces and nephews was a great way for him to annoy his brother and sister and their spouses. He was a plethora of obscure facts, that he would randomly share with anyone within earshot or screenshot as his mobility decreased. He doggedly kept in touch with anyone he had ever known that he could locate, from family to friends from jobs, high school and as far back as elementary school.
Terry was preceded in in death by his parents Sidney Murle Keils and Rose Marie (Page) Keils of Crowley. He is survived by his brother Larry Gene Keils and wife Sherrie of Weatherford, sister Susan Keils Carpenter and husband Blake of Crowley, nieces Adriane Keils Villarreal, Katy Carpenter Pytel, Cydney Carpenter Norman, nephews Joshua Keils and James Perez and eleven grand-nieces and nephews. His extended family included many cousins, second cousins and four double second cousins.
There will be a celebration of his life Saturday August 15th from 2:00pm to 5:00pm at Oakgrove Baptist Church 12351 Oak Grove Rd S, Burleson, TX 76028. The family requests donations be made in memory of Terry Keils to Assist The Officer Foundation of Fort Worth through the website, https://atofortworth.org/ in lieu of flowers. Terry’s desire was to be cremated with ashes scattered in various locations dear to his heart and will be done as permission is obtained, culminating at the Oakwood Cemetery in Oakwood, Texas with a memorial marker on his plot next to his parents this fall.
