Theadora "Teddy" Jones passed away on October 30, 2018 in Fort Worth, Texas surrounded by her family. Teddy was born December 23, 1938 in Chicago to John and Susan Belmonte Wurbia. Teddy was the second of two children; her brother John Wurbia passed away in 2006. Teddy is survived by her dear friend Della Nehib, her four children: Susan Haltom with her husband Steve, John Jones, Sharon Wrzesinski with her husband Paul, and Sandra Jones, as well as her grandchildren: Chris Haltom, Steven Haltom, Michelle Haltom, Jamie Kaufmann, Jinger Jones, Jake Jones, Casey Herndon, Braden Wrzesinski, Mandy Dennehy, and Josie Edwards, plus her great-grandchildren: Mya Smith, Benjamin Kaufmann, Nolan Blenden, Harper Blenden, Emma Herndon, and Charlie Dennehy.
Teddy grew up in Chicago in an Italian-American family where family meant everything. She lived in several places in Europe and the US as a military wife including Spain, France, and Germany; her love for antiques grew from her many travels. Teddy volunteered as a Girl Scout leader, softball coach, at St. Peters Catholic School, and as foster mother for infants through Catholic Charities. Building a family bond was important to Teddy; her children and grandchildren are very close. Holidays and family gatherings with extended family are a tradition she loved. True to her Italian heritage you would be offered food any time you visited; hosting parties was her specialty. Teddy had a great sense of humor and would often take the other side of a conversation just to see where it would go. Teddy never missed a life event, school function, or extra-curricular activity of her children, grandchildren, or great-grandchildren. Later in life Teddy loved spending her extra time with her great-grandchildren, and shopping for antiques.
Teddy retired from the US Postal Service after 20 years of service. She also worked for the Fort Worth ISD and Tandy Corp. After retirement, Teddy took care of her aging mother and invested and managed rental properties.
Teddy will be remembered as a caring daughter, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend by those who cherished her.
