Thomas Weston Aldrich Jr

January 29, 1967 — February 22, 2014

Thomas (Tom) Weston Aldrich, Jr., formerly of Duncan, died peacefully in Fort Worth, Texas, on Saturday, February 22, 2014, after a long courageous battle with ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease). Funeral services will be 10:00 am Wednesday, February 26, 2014 at Alliance Community Fellowship in Fort Worth, Texas. Visitation: 6-8pm Tuesday evening at Lucas Funeral Home in Keller. Graveside burial service will follow at Duncan Cemetery at 3:00 pm. The family will receive friends for a celebration of Tom’s life immediately following the graveside service at his sister Leslie’s home at 1107 W. Jones, Duncan.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the MDA Association at www.MDA.org or Alliance Community Fellowship Church.

Tom was born in Duncan, OK on January 29, 1967. He graduated from Duncan High School in 1985 and earned his Bachelors in Business from Cameron University in Lawton, Oklahoma. After graduation, he moved to Dallas where he worked for Fidelity Investments for more than twenty years. He met his wife, Dawna, at Fidelity and together they were raising their two sons in Haslet, Texas.
Tom was a hands-on father to his sons who he affectionately called Ace and Deuce. He particularly enjoyed telling family, friends and co-worker’s of their latest antics. Tom had a great love of all sports, enjoyed playing golf, and supporting the Oklahoma Sooners and Dallas Cowboys. As his boys grew, Tom could be found on many Saturday mornings on the sidelines watching his boys as they played baseball, football or soccer. He was known for his storytelling and his wonderful dry wit. Tom had a love for music that he shared with Dawna and enjoyed playing and listening to the guitar.
Tom was diagnosed with ALS in November 2011 and fought bravely against a horrid disease. Tom was a private person and most of his friends and coworkers never knew the battle he was quietly fighting as ALS worked its way through his body. His mind was clear and his will to live and love for his family never dimmed. Through it all, he never complained and kept his sense of humor.
Tom is survived by his wife of ten years, Dawna Folsom Aldrich, and their two young sons, Aiden Weston and Gavin Thomas. Tom is also survived by his sisters, Lisa Tompkins and husband Rick, of Houston, Texas, and Leslie Miser and husband Tony, of Wichita Falls, Texas. Additionally Tom is survived by his nephews, Matt Christian and his wife Abby, of Duncan, James Tompkins and his wife Sue Ann, of Kingwood, Texas, Clay Tompkins and his wife Allison, of Houston, Texas, and niece, Lauren Britt and her husband Tanner, of Fox, Oklahoma. He is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Weston (Wes) Aldrich and Lela Mae Aldrich, longtime Duncan residents.
