Thomas Joseph Harris

Thomas Joseph Harris, aged 85, of Lantana, TX passed away Friday, September 10, 2021. Tom was born January 25, 1936 in Traverse City, Michigan. He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years Janet Gail Harris; his son Chad S. Harris; and his daughter Elizabeth T. Harris; two brothers: William (Bill) Edward Harris and Arthur John Harris Jr. He is survived by his brother James Milton Harris (Sara) of Edina, Minnesota. He also has two sister-in-laws, Virginia (Loomis) Weiland and Dorothy (Loomis) Palmer, both of Grand Rapids, Michigan.
Tom was a devoted husband and father and spoke of his family often. He had a long and successful career in the grocery business managing multiple stores in the US and Mexico before transitioning to the Printing Industry and creating the color flyers for grocery stores. He remained in touch with many friends and associates throughout his years. Tom was an avid tennis player and fan and enjoyed teaching and giving tips to many while in his 70’s. Tom will be greatly missed and remembered by a large Lantana community of family of friends, as well as the many pets he cared for over the years after he retired and started Tom’s Pet Care. He could be seen around the neighborhood walking dogs, engaged in conversation with neighbors, and generally staying involved in the Lantana community. There will be an informal Celebration of Life Service on Harvest Moon, Monday September 20, 2021 at 7:00 p.m. at Pilot Knoll Park in Highland Village on Lake Lewisville, 218A Orchard Hill Lane, 76226. In Lieu of flowers or gifts, Tom asked for donations to the SPCA in his name: give.spca.org
