Tom Williams of Bedford passed away on Tuesday with his wife and family by his side. He was a much-loved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend.
Tom shared 69 years of marriage with the love of his life Ruth Williams. He is survived by Daughters; Julie Williams of Bedford, Kathy Clifton of Colleyville, and Mary Williams-Henderson of Bixby, OK, Grandchildren; Carly Wise, Stephen Clifton, Drew Clifton, Emily Holland, and Lauren Weems, Great-grandson; Carter Wise.
He was a proud veteran of the US Army, member of American Legion Post 379, Knights of Columbus in Bedford, and Good Shepherd Catholic Community.
Tom was quick-witted and a great storyteller. He was such a great example of a hardworking, honorable man who stood by his commitments and dug deep then things got tough. He will be greatly missed.
Thomas W Williams was born on October 25, 1934 in Murphyboro, Illinois. After high school graduation he joined the Army serving as Corrections Guard and Sharpshooter. He attended Peoria Barber School and owned Venice Barber Shop in Illinois. When flattops went out style, Tom worked his shop by day and began his career as a railroad clerk at night. He retired after 30 years with Illinois Terminal Railroad and Norfolk Southern.
The service to honor Tom will be held on Saturday, August 10th with an 11:00 am mass at Good Shepard Catholic Church, Colleyville, with a Rosary prior at 10:30 am. A celebration in Tom’s name will follow at Knights of Columbus Hall in Bedford. We will share stories and drink a toast to the one and only Tom Williams.
