Pastor Thurman is preceded in death by his loving parents Dick and Ardis Scrivner; sisters Gail Smith and Genieva June Scrivner; wife Betty Scrivner; and daughter Amanda Sexton.

Thurman Lee Scrivner was born in Hamlin, TX, on December 30, 1938, and was raised in a great Christian family. In church nine months before he was born, he was raised a Southern Baptist, and became a Christian at age 11. He graduated from Goldthwaite High School in 1957, and was a mechanic at the local Chevrolet dealership after school. His claim to fame was driving 65 mph standing on his Harley Davidson with his arms out on the country roads in Goldthwaite, and having his driver’s license revoked for a year, due to so many speeding tickets.

He opened a Mechanic Shop in Brownwood, then had to join the military instead of being drafted. He proudly served honorably as Airman 3rd Class for the United States Air Force from November 22, 1961 – July 14, 1965, in Vietnam, Tokyo, Japan, and Seoul, South Korea nuclear base. He received the Air Force Good Conduct Medal, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, and Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon. He could throw up two cans at once and hit them both before they hit the ground!
After being honorably discharged from the US Air Force, he attended Spartan College of Aeronautics and Technology in Tulsa, OK, where he graduated, received such perfect marks that they asked him to teach aerospace systems for the college.

As a commercial pilot, he received all his tickets for flight: single engine, multi-engine, Instrument Rating, flight engineer, including certified Airframe & Power Plant Mechanic.

Pastor was an international pilot flying around the world. He flew for Seaboard World Airlines out of New York City, and for a German airline while living in Germany. After the German carrier filed bankruptcy, he came back to the USA, and became a simulator instructor for American Airlines and engineer instructor for Braniff Airlines, teaching avionics systems on four-engined jets to pilots and engineers. He studied his Bible just like he spent hours studying his airplane manuals. People’s lives depended on him.

There wasn’t anything that he could not design or fabricate with his superior intelligence and straight line into GOD. As a corporate regional engineer, he flew in from an out of town trip and saw one of his company’s catering trucks laying over on top of a Braniff airplane wing. The next morning, he went in early to the office to discuss the situation with Pepe Pinto, his executive VP. Pepe requested that Thurman design a catering truck that would never do that to a plane again. Thurman replied that he only needed time and money, and Pepe said that accident only cost us $1,000,000 yesterday, and you have all the money you need.

Thurman went outside and stood by the Braniff plane and spoke directly to the LORD. He said, “LORD, you heard what my company desires, and I need your help in designing a catering truck that will never injure a plane or an employee.” The LORD immediately showed him an open vision of a catering truck that would stop all injuries. He took the drawing into his top mechanic and told him to start constructing it immediately.

Then, he went back outside to the damaged Braniff plane, and the LORD showed him another open vision. This time, it was a flight attendant calling out to the catering employee to make a product request. As the catering employee leaned into the plane to hear her instructions, the LORD showed him the loading deck or platform moving back into the truck, and the catering employee falling many feet to the concrete below and being injured.
He saw an open vision with a perfectly designed latch that would never be compromised, and there would never be another injury. From this design, LSG Sky Chefs added Thurman’s designs to every truck in their fleet. Now, every catering truck in the world has Thurman’s designs on their truck fleet, which the LORD revealed to him in two open visions.

While in the corporate world, he visited one of his Houston operations. He had crawled under 20,000 pounds of steel to inspect the building. The LORD audibly spoke to Thurman and said, “Son, you forgot to do your paperwork this morning.” He said, “Yes, LORD, I did, but I will go do it in 15 minutes.” The LORD said, “No, Son. Go do it right now.” He crawled out from under the 20,000 pounds of steel, and the supporting structure exploded when he took his second step! As he ran stumbling and falling, he turned and looked. There on the ground where he had been was 20,000 pounds of steel.

He said, “LORD, those scriptures in 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 just took on a whole new meaning: “What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.” His discipline and submitting to God’s authority that day kept him from being killed and crushed under 20,000 pounds of steel. This was the second time that GOD had audibly spoke to Thurman.

He was a brilliant instructor, international commercial pilot, and equipment designer. He built buildings all over the world (including Cairo, Egypt) for The Marriott Corporation and LSG Sky Chefs for 29 years, until they fired him for signing his emails, “Praise The LORD” and refused to stop praying for employees and seeing supernatural miracles in the work place.

He served as a deacon and Sunday school teacher at both Lakeland Baptist Church and Justin Baptist Church. At Justin, his Sunday school class was referred to as “that’s where they get all their prayers answered.” Thurman said, “That’s a great way to be known.”

In 1986, Ed Brock was diagnosed and hospitalized with Stage 4 Lymphoma in every organ of his body. Thurman went to the hospital to pray for Ed, and as he walked out of the room, the LORD said, “Call for the men of the church to pray for Ed, and I will heal him.” Thurman said, “LORD, didn’t you just hear what his wife Ruthie said? He has Stage 4 Lymphoma in every organ in his body.”
He went home and diligently started looking for a healing scripture that would confirm what the LORD had told him. He finally found James 5:14-16: “Is any sick among you? Let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him. Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.”

Thurman went to Ed after he got home from the hospital and showed him James 5:14-16. He asked him to read it until he believed it. Ed called him and told him to call the men of the church together at Lakeland Baptist Church. 28 men showed up to anoint Ed Brock with oil and pray over him. Thurman walked in with a bottle of olive oil, and Ed asked him where he got it and had he ever done this before. Thurman said," It came from Tom Thumb, and no, I have never done this before." So, Thurman has him take off his shirt, pours the olive oil all over his back and chest like a greased pig. Within days, Ed Brock is being healed.

Pastor Thurman was thrown fulltime into ministry in 2001, after the deaths of his wife and daughter. The LORD personally trained him in his Ministry, speaking audibly to him over 60+ times. Pastor Thurman studied between 8-10 hours daily in the Word of GOD. That is why he was such a Great Man of GOD, a Great Man of Faith, because he knows JESUS CHRIST intimately. He was led by the Spirit of GOD and could ask anything of the LORD, and HE would answer him.

Through Pastor Thurman’s prayers, we have seen 1,000’s of healings and 100’s of miracles at The Living Savior Ministries in Argyle. We traveled all over the world and the USA ministering wherever we were called. Pastor Thurman built our church here on his property, after losing our Dallas lease. The LORD told him that HE gave him this land, to build the church, and they would come.

Pastor’s life was GOD and his family. He never missed Tim’s football games, unless he was out of town on business, with Betty screaming to the top of her lungs when Tim would break free—“there goes MY SON!!!” He is so proud of Tim, Marika, and his grandchildren. He had our staff provide 25 half-gallon of ice cream, plastic bowls and spoons, marshmallows, nuts, waffle cones for his grandbabies and their friends. I saw Preston come load up five scoops of ice cream four different times in one day. That’s how much he loved his grandbabies.

Everyone is writing how Pastor changed their lives forever, healed them, or delivered them; and he did. We never went into a restaurant where the first thing that he would say to the waiter was, “Are you a Christian, and where do you go to church?” Before he would order, he would lead them to JESUS. That was his life—JESUS CHRIST OUR LORD AND SAVIOR.

We were ministering in Olathe, Kansas, and went out to eat breakfast after the service with Pastors Dan and Cindie Crevier. Pastor Dave was with us and wanted to go back early to the hotel to rest. While Pastors Dan and Dave were gone, the waiter came up to take our order, and again, Pastor Thurman asks if he is a Christian and where he goes to church. All of a sudden, a man shouts out loud that you can’t talk about JESUS in a public restaurant.

Thurman jumped up and shouted, “who said that?” A drunk man yells that it was him. Thurman physically vaults over two 6’ plexiglas booths, grabs the man by his shirt, commands the demons of Hell out of this man, and throws him back into the booth. The man says out loud, “I needed that.” About that time, Pastor Dan returns, and his wife says, “Boy, did you really miss something.” Another tall man walks over, and says, “Sir, are you speaking in this town?” Thurman said, “yes, at this pastor’s church.” Pastor Dan gave him a business card, and the gentleman laid down $100 bill to pay for our meals, came to every meeting, and got healed himself. There was never a dull moment walking through our daily life ministry with the Scrivner’s.

His adoring Lily puppy has been guarding him the past several weeks. He hated dogs, but he loves our 11-year old Lily girl. The LORD spoke audibly to him and asked was he going to withhold what HE had made special for Cheryl. He said, “You made something special for Cheryl?” The LORD audibly spoke to him and said, “Yes, a puppy.” He said, “No, I am not withholding whatever you made special for Cheryl.” The rest is history. Lily sleeps with him, guards him, loves him, and adores him. Just as we all have done that know him.

Pastor Kenneth Copeland said that Pastor and his team were not just faith healers, “you are Healing Technicians.” This was after flying us to Colorado to pray for one of his ministers dying with colon cancer. We remitted his sins, laid hands on him, and prayed. The minister was released the next day with NO CANCER.

Sid Roth of It’s Supernatural TV met a lady that had been healed at our church of Lymes disease at a Houston horse show recently. Sid asked which ministry had prayed for her. She told him that he would probably not know him, and then said, it was Thurman Scrivner. Sid immediately lit up and said, “I know Thurman, and I put Thurman in the top five men of faith of people in the world that I have ever known.”

His mother Ardis told him his entire life: Philippians 4:13 – “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.” That was the scripture that ruled his destiny and his belief that he could do anything in life.

Praise God for this faithful obedient servant of God, who was simple enough to believe what God wrote in the Word, and he applied it to his entire life. You will forever be remembered and loved and changed the world believing there was nothing impossible with Christ.
