Timothy Casey Bowen, known to family and friends as Casey, was born on February 21, 1947, in Washington, DC, to George Edgar and Kathryn (Casey) Bowen. He passed away at home suddenly, in the presence of his loving wife Deborah, on January 3, 2019. Casey was a 1966 graduate of Arch Bishop Carroll High School in DC. He attended Brigham Young University on a football scholarship before transferring to play at Ricks College in Idaho and eventually at Utah State, where he graduated. He was a long-time government employee, beginning his career with the US Postal Service before transferring to the General Services Administration. He moved to Texas in 1980 to continue his GSA career where he became Director of Portfolio Management Division. Casey retired in 2012, after successful service to the United States government.
Casey loved playing golf and traveling. He never met a stranger and was an exceptionally gregarious and outgoing man with an infectious laugh and engaging personality to match. His countless friends can attest that he had a way of making even a stranger feel like his next best friend and had the wonderful gift of hospitality. He loved a great story and had the gift of storytelling, always ready to share a joke or anecdote generously. Even more, he loved his family and friends and endeared himself to everyone he met. Casey lived life fully, enjoying every moment he had, and his passing will leave a great void among all those who loved him.
He shares three children with his first wife Maura O’Melia Lynch, and a daughter (Alexis) with his wife of 20 years, Deborah Robinson Bowen.
Casey was preceded in death by his parents George Edgar and Kathryn (Casey) Bowen, his brothers Michael and George Bowen, and his sister Onda Selmer. He is survived by his wife Deborah, his daughters Alexis Bowen, Meghan Bowen, and Kathleen Bowen Calabrese (husband Brian), son Timothy Casey Bowen, grandsons Reagan, Charlie, and Finn Calabrese, sister Karen Fisher (husband Bill), and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews.
He was dearly loved by his entire family and his abundance of friends.
