Tommie Marta Valerio, 76, passed away Saturday, December 18, 2021, at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center in Fort Worth, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am, Tuesday, January 18, 2022 at Lucas and Blessing Funeral Home in Burleson. Burial will follow at Burleson Memorial Cemetery. Tommie was born March 9, 1945, in Loveland, Colorado, to Miguel Carrillo and Amalia Marta Carrillo. Shortly after, her family moved to Wyoming, eventually residing in Arizona. There she met Sam Valerio and married on January 21,1968 in Phoenix, AZ and had three children. They were happily married for 53 years and together for 56 years. Tommie loved her Savior Jesus Christ, and was devoted to the Lord. She loved her family and was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.
Tommie loved going on country drives, spending time in her garden with her dear dog, trips to the state fair, and sewing and crafting patch quilts, a gift learned from her wonderful mom, Amalia. She enjoyed reading a variety of literature, including the Bible, and sharing about the beautiful wonders of God. We will miss the gift of her beautiful smile, her exceptional wit, her kindness and most of all her unconditional love.
Tommie was preceded in death by her son, Martin Esteban Valerio; parents, Miguel and Amalia Carrillo; sister, Tomasita; brothers, Salvador, Benito, Reyes and Marcelino Carrillo; sisters-in-law, Margie Carrillo (Benito) and Gloria Carrillo; brothers-in-law, Geraldo Valenzuela and Torbio Deleon; grandbaby E; and nieces and nephews.
Tommie is survived by her husband, Sam of Fort Worth; daughter, Melissa Valerio; son, Marc Valerio; daughter-in-law, Tracy Valerio and her mother, Joanne Walling; grandchildren, Ashley, Brianna, Caden, Malia and Samantha Valerio from Fort Worth TX; sisters, Lupe DeLeon, Tencha Valenzuela; sister-in-law, Evangelina Carrillo; brothers, Manuel and wife, Ophelia Carrillo and Mike and wife, Sherry Carrillo from Phoenix, AZ. Along with many nieces and nephews and other relatives.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made in Tommie’s name to Promise’s 140 NW Renfro St. Burleson, TX. 76028 or St. Jude Hospital.
