Hurst, Texas -- Tommy Andrew Dickson, 76, died peacefully in his sleep Saturday, December 9, 2017.
Services: Visitation will be at Lucas Funeral Home in Hurst, Texas Tuesday from 5:00pm to 7:00pm. Funeral Services will be at Saint Vincent’s Cathedral Church in Bedford, Texas, Wednesday at 4:00pm and interment will be at Dido Memorial Cemetery, 12315 Morris Dido Newark Rd, Fort Worth, Texas.

Tommy was born April 11, 1941 in Conway, Texas to Burl and Bonnie Dickson. Tom attended Amarillo College shortly before graduating from Southwest Texas State College with a Bachelor’s in Education. He then earned a Master’s in Education at North Texas State University, along with a Counseling Certification. Tom started teaching Drama and Advanced English at L. D. Bell High School in Hurst in 1966. He was an accomplished stage director who challenged his students and thrilled his audiences. Tom showed a sincere love for teaching and became one of those rare teachers who formed long-lasting connections with his students. It was the director of drama at another nearby high school who introduced Tom to Cheta, the love of his life. The two were married on July 18, 1970 in Hurst. Tom was a member of Saint Vincent’s Episcopal Church, where he served on the Vestry, School Board and was a Lay Reader and Chalice Bearer.
For recreation, Tom enjoyed showing Afghan Hounds and served as President of the Afghan Hound Club of Dallas. Tom also joined the Tri-City Promenaders Square Dance Club, where he also served as President.
Tom is preceded in death by his son Jeffrey Andrew Dickson; both parents, his sister Barbara Cotter and nephew Shane Dickson Cotter. Tom is survived by his wife of 47 years, Cheta; Daughter Jennifer and husband Kenneth Richardson; Grandchildren Hannah Morrison, Ashton Richardson, Megan, Cole and Tyler Dickson; Sister-In-law, Pam Burney; Nephew,
Hondo Burney; Neice, Andrea and husband Mike; Nephews Christian and son Cotter, Chase and Conner Teague.
