Traci Robyn Mcgill

Traci Robyn McGill was born on May 24, 1966, in Waterloo, Iowa, and passed away peacefully in her sleep on September 1, 2022, in Grapevine, Texas. She was proceeded in death by her cherished sister, Jodi Vossberg. She is survived by the love of her life and devoted husband of 33 years, William Shannon McGill, her parents Keith and Judi Mangels, and her sister, Lori Leigh.

Traci grew up in Iowa and attended Iowa State University. She was extremely proud of her accomplishments there, especially being a member of the ISU Cyclone Football Varsity Marching Band. While earning a bachelor's degree in Broadcast Journalism, Traci met Shannon at the ISU campus radio station, KUSR. After marrying in Sioux City, Iowa, the couple moved to Corpus Christi, Texas.

In Corpus Christi, Traci and Shannon volunteered as firefighters with the Flour Bluff Fire Department in Nueces County where Traci found her passion for fire fighting. She continued her career as a paid professional Firefighter/Paramedic with the Corpus Christi Fire Department while also volunteering with FBFD from 1995-2001. After 9/11 and a brief move to Wisconsin to be closer to family, the couple returned to Texas and began working for the Grapevine Fire Department. Traci continued her firefighting career as a Paramedic/Firefighter and then Driver/Engineer until her retirement in 2018.

In addition to firefighting, Traci loved working in her yard and being on the lake. She and Shannon spent as much time as possible at Lake Grapevine on her beloved Chris Craft. Traci's strength was apparent in her successful battle with breast cancer. Her depth of caring was visible in her commitment to family, friends, and career. The Grapevine Fire Department's honor guard also greatly appreciated her active participation and willingness to volunteer whenever needed.

A memorial service will be held in her honor on Friday, September 16, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at Grapevine Fire Station #2, 3091 Dove Rd, Grapevine, TX 76051. All are welcome to attend.
