Valerie Lynne Stalets, born on April 6, 1955, in the vibrant city of Dallas, Texas, departed from this world on March 8, 2025, in Southlake, Texas. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, Valerie's spirit will forever be cherished by those who had the privilege of knowing her.
The daughter of Bob and Betty Biar, who preceded her in death, Valerie carried the warmth of her family legacy throughout her life. She is survived by her loving husband, Scott Stalets, her beloved daughter, Meredith Stalets Gunn and husband Hurley Gunn, and her treasured grandson, Jonah Scott Gunn. Additionally, she holds a special place in the hearts of many cousins—Diana Baldys, Ted and Mark Biar, Karen Bernhardt, Doug Dretke, David Dretke, Denise Lambert, Greg Hansen, and Jim Greunke—who will remember her with fondness and gratitude.
Valerie possessed a joyous spirit that radiated through her passions and pastimes. She relished in the connections forged over shared hobbies and the cherished moments spent with her family. Whether it was traveling to new lands, caring for the creatures that graced her backyard, or simply enveloped in the companionship of her beloved cats and dogs, her zest for life was palpable. It was in the presence of her two-year-old grandson, Jonah, that Valerie (Gammy) articulated the depths of her affection, as they played together, weaving laughter and love into the fabric of their shared experiences. The trails of Bob Jones Park witnessed many joyful walks with Meredith , each step echoing her delight in nurturing their bond with nature and each other.
An avid reader, Valerie found solace in the pages of history, forever yearning to explore the tales of yesteryears. Through literature, she not only expanded her knowledge but also ignited conversations that connected her deeper with her loved ones.
As we gather to honor her life, we invite friends and family to partake in the memorial services held in her remembrance. Visitation will take place on March 19, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Lucas Funeral Home in Grapevine, Texas. A Mass celebrating her life will be held on March 20, 2025, at 10:30 AM at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Keller, Texas, where we will collectively embrace the love and laughter she shared. Following the Mass, a graveside service will be held at Grapevine Historic Cemetery at 12:30 PM, allowing all who knew Valerie to pay their respects.
Valerie Lynne Stalets leaves behind a legacy of tenderness, adventure, and unyielding love, a brilliant light extinguished far too soon but whose glow will never fade in the hearts of those who adored her.
