Vanda Elizabeth Coker Bentley, 70, of Burleson passed away Sunday, September 19, 2021. A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, October 2, 2021 at First Baptist Church in Crowley, TX.
Vanda was born February 1, 1951, in Columbiana, Alabama to William E. Coker and Vivian Fasig. She was married to W.A. Bentley on December 5, 1970, in Sherman, Texas. Vanda was a school teacher for 20 years. She loved her students and loved teaching History. She loved her football, American, and European. Her favorite teams were the Green Bay Packers, Notre Dame Fighting Irish, and Liverpool FC. She also had a deep interest for art and enjoyed attending art shows. Her favorite artist was Michael Godard and she loved to call him the “rockstar” of the art world. She truly enjoyed attending gospel concerts with her favorite gospel singer being Russ Taff. Vanda was a Christian and a firm believer in God and enjoyed spreading the Word of God. Her favorite verses in the Bible are Proverbs 3:5-6 and her favorite chapter is Psalms 139. We take comfort in knowing that she is pain free, talking, and rejoicing with her many family members in Heaven and we will see her again. She never met a stranger and will be dearly missed by her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Vivian; brother, Chuck Coker; son, Joseph Bentley; and father-in-law, Bigon Bentley.
Vanda is survived by her husband, W.A. Bentley; son, James Bentley and wife, Jessica; daughters, Jana Downe and husband, Jesse and Joanna; grandchildren, Trenton Downe, Ariel Bentley, Zach Bentley, Jordan Downe, Ally Bentley, Avery Downe, Joseph Bentley, and Jeremiah Bentley; great-grandchildren, Kyla Bentley, Ka’liyah Beasley, and Kaleb Beasley; sister, Sarah Bates and husband, Larry of Denison, TX; mother-in-law, Leslie Bentley of Denison TX; sister-in-law, Martha Holliday of Denison TX; and step-father, Bob Fasig of McKinney, TX.
